hey :)
anyone having the same experience? The more i try to be physical active, take longer walks, faster walks, exersize for strength and such, the more depressed and sad and fearful i become. anyone in the same situation or who knows why?
and even f you don't, got anny sugestions on what i can do? :)
I've never heard this before. Exercise makes me feel better, and that's what it's supposed to do. Maybe you should talk to your doctor about this.
I can't say I've heard of this phenomenon unless you're trying to exercise in order to look like something you may not be able to. Do it instead to get fit, so you can do more of what you want to do.
Also, you have to find what works for you.
Now me being a guy, here's what I do:
I use my garage. I crank up the music, usually metal for me as that's good times motivating music.
There's a ledge I use as a step exerciser, I just go as hard as I can for as long as I can as fast as I can but remember, this is in an isolated area, my garage so my concern isn't going to be what others see, but what I need to do.
It's durx this time more often than not, I'm able to solve problems for work, or even personal or relationship stuff. You should get kinda a high from doing this.
Then I hit the floor push out the first round of pushups then hit it with the crunches. On my feet again I do weights for a while which does take more concentration than running on the step does. I finish off with more time on the step, another round of pushups and then walk / pace back and forthis till my heart slows.
Now the exercise gods / nazis have had all sorts of criticism for this over the years, not enough stretching, you didn't contort in one fashion or another, you didn't bow enough times to the mirror gods and other tomfoolery. Granted, I stretch my legs at the beginning by touching my toes and the ground a bunch of times, but I don't go through some elongated routine / make me a big production of it.
I'm not even saying do what I do, I haven't always done it exactly this way. Do what works with your schedule and location. For me 45 minutes to an hour's fine but for some they go forever, and some I know have got a routine they can do in twenty minutes. It's all in what you want out of it: I use it as a destresser after work, some people start their day with it. It's personal: you gotta do what works for you.
When we lived at a place that had a gym, I used to see a guy in his 80s or 90s come in there, and all he could do was ride the bike a few minutes really slowly, but he came in every day, crankin' it out. He did it no matter what or who was there: working people my age, or young studs like some of you all on here who could crank out 100 pushups without breathing hard, he didn't let it get to him. I'd have to say in his own way he motivated me without even saying anything, as I at the time was somewhat ashamed to go there with all the college-age guys doing what we all used to, and here I am "benching like a girl," as we used to call it, started out no more than sixty.
You're doin' it for you, not anyone else.
I hope you can make it work for you: just don't be frustrated if one way doesn't work out. You'll find somethin' else. Human's have been exercisin' themselves for millennia, long before any nong nong gawkers came along to sell their snake oil, tell you only their thing works, and make ya feel bad if you don't do / buy theirs. It's especially rough on girls, by girls. Note to feministas: it ain't the men criticizing how women work out, it's your supposed sisterhood.
But to post 1, don't let 'em do ya like that.
hi :) yeah i know i'ts weird. i spoke to my dr about it and she does not yet know what it can be.al my tests are normal, which is good. :)
know i need to find my way of workout and i suppose that's where maybe my biggest problem is. i've tried some different things, but dont feel comfortable with any as of yet. thoulg walks are actaully really nice unless i got someone infront who go "man how slow you move" *smile* but i'm gonna continue to investigate this futher cause its insane ..
anyway thanks for replies :)
I've never heard of this, either. Everything I've heard suggests the opposite: that exercise helps depression. I know that is true for me, too.
But, like others have said, it may not be the exercise itself. You could be doing the wrong kind of work-out for you. What works for one person does not always work for someone else, so if you're trying to fit yourself into someone else's work-out, then no wonder you're discouraged. Some people also exercise with very unreasonable expectations of the results. They think if they exercise a certain amount of time, they'll lose a certain amount of weight, and so on. Then, when they dont lose the weight as fast as they want, they get discouraged.
It could be a whole variety of reasons. Continue to try and work through it if you can.
it is a first time ever i heard something like that. it might be something to do with the rutine you on, and the type of excersize you do
try something small, and something slow, perhaps let say try with 10 to 20 minutes a day, with a slow walk, or doing some minor excersize and build up from there.
it could be that your body aint use to excersize, and if you push it too hard to start with, it might give you some negative reaction than what you expected.
also, ask your doctor to suggest some of the excersize that might be suitable for you to start with.
when i have excersize i usually let to have the streams with me or a mp3 player. listen to music or book will take the pressure i have towards myself on working out, and enjoy myself while i working out.
try not to stress yourself up by thinking that you need/must do some work it. every body is different, take professional suggestion, not suggestion from your friends or family just because they have done it, and they think you're suitable for certain excersize
good luck
I personally find that music really motivates me. The more I listen to music, the better I feel when I exercise, and the better I feel afterwards. I usually wear headphones if possible, because it kind of makes me forget about the environment around me as long as I don't think about it. Then, I can really get into it. As Robozork said, it's not about what others see, but what's best for you. I find that if I'm not listening to music or at least working out with someone else, I usually end up quitting before my preferred routine is finished. Again, this is just me.
All great suggestions. Not a whole lot I can add, just try not to push yourself too hard and find a type of exercise that you actually enjoy. If possible, work out with a friend, sometimes this can be really fun and motivating.
thank you everyone for replies :) and i'll keep posted to see how things go :)
I love these suggestions. My opinion is that your workout is plain boring. You do it because you should you think, but you are maybe bored, so it's a chore? Find an activity you enjoy. Maybe you like to swim, so swim because you like it not because it exercise. Maybe go dancing. Find a buddy to exercise with, maybe bike riding, or walking with someone to chat with. You are doing an activity that is exercise sure, but it has now become enjoyable not a pain. Also put these unrealistic goals on the back burner. You'll get their if you do more happier, but you'll drag and not succeed if you stress.
If it hasn't already been mentioned, make your mp3 player or audiobook your best workout friend. I never work out without some great upbeat music, this really makes the time fly.
